Specialised training on Advanced Intervention on wounds results from a partnership between the University of Madeira, through the Competence Centre for the Health Technologies, and ELCOS – Wounds Association. This partnership stresses the importance of the University as a provider of vocational educational projects and the Wounds Society whose interaction with scientific and professional authorities that focus both in the study and evaluation of wounds, enhances the technical and scientific quality of this projects.

As the accreditation process by the European Wound Management Association is underway it provides added value to its technical and scientific recognition. This specialised training is intended to become the first step towards the creation of a Master degree in this field of study.


It will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, on University Premises


It aims to endow nurses with scientific, technical, human and cultural training in order to provide specialised health care services to wounded people.

- To develop specialised knowledge in nursing relevant to the quality of health services within wounds’ prevention and care.

- Analysing the results of evidence-based practice that are relevant to the quality of care within wound care and prevention.

- To promote self-analysis skills oriented towards problem solving and decision making in nursing.

- To promote research within wound prevention and care.

  1. Copy of the Identity Card | Citizen Card;
  2. Copy of the Taxpayer Identification Number (when the citizen card is not presented);
  3. Professional Licence or a valid certificate of registration in the Portuguese Nurses' Associationt;
  4. Evidence of holding a degree in nursing or legal equivalent, indicating their final grade;
  5. Evidence of the service time (until 31 July 2012) and professional experience as a nurse;
  6. Copy of the diploma.
  7. Other documents that the candidate considers relevant to prove one's qualifications and curriculum.
