O Guia do Aluno foi disponibilizado em versão digital a partir do ano letivo 2011|2012. Os motivos para esta alteração aliam a necessidade de contenção orçamental, o fator ambiental e, fundamentalmente, a atratividade pelas Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação por parte do nosso público-alvo, fruto do seu dinamismo e facilidade de disseminação.

The PhD program in Physics is centred as Low Temperature Plasma Physics and aims at covering the advanced training needs of a doctoral student in this branch of learning. The doctoral program has as main objective the graduation of high qualified researchers with competencies to conduct autonomous research projects at the university and in the economic sector connected to high-technology industries. The doctoral program has two main components (a coursework component in the first year and an original thesis to be conducted in the following two years). An advanced studies Diploma in Physics will be given to all students who complete 60 ECTS in the mandatory curricular units, and with a monograph. The PhD title will be granted to all students who complete 180 credits corresponding to an original thesis and the coursework component.

Admission Requirements

Those who meet the following requirements may apply to the third cycle of studies (cf. Decree-Law No. 74/ 2006, of 25th March, republished by Decree-Law No. 107/ 2008, of 25th June):

a. Holders of a Master’s Degree or legal equivalent;

b. Holders of a degree who present a relevant academic or scientific curriculum to attend this cycle of studies and acknowledged as such by the Scientific Council;

c. Holders of a relevant academic, scientific or professional curriculum to attend this cycle of studies and acknowledged as such by the Scientific Council.
